KULANA VISITOR FEES

PLEASE NOTE:

All reservations are prepaid, nonrefundable/non-transferable.

All length-of-stay discounts given at the time of each reservation.

Request "Care Project" or "No-Care-Project" rate when setting up your stay (see below)!

One-Nighters:

•  $40 per person per night--single Kulana participant occupying private cabin or room.

•  $25 per person per night--2 or more participants choosing to share private cabin or room.

•  No Care Project; all other guidelines apply.

 

Short-term Reservations of up to 10 nights:

•  $30 per person per night--single Kulana participant occupying private cabin or room.

•  $22 per person per night--2 or more participants choosing to share private cabin or room.

 

Medium-Length Reservations of 11 - 31 nights:

•  $22 per person per night--single Kulana participant occupying private cabin or room.

•  $18 per person per night--2 or more participants choosing to share private cabin or room.

 

Longer-Term Reservtions of 32 nights and beyond:   $18 per person per night, regardless of how many share space.

Children:   $15 per child per night--infants and children up to 12 years old (adult rates apply to 13 and over)--regardless of length of stay.

 

Campers:   $15 per camper regardless of length of stay or of how many share tent.

 

Optional:

For Visitors wanting or needing their time at Kulana to be strictly "vacation" with no pitching-in work involved, an additional fee of $10 per day/per adult visitor can be added into reservation instead of contributing to the sanctuary's grounds and structures via weekly Care Projects.

Medium-length and longer-stay Visitors can also choose the option of adding an additional $15 per day/per adult visitor into their reservation, instead of participating in both Care Project and Household Purchase obligations. Note:  

Please note: Hawaii's TA tax of 9.25%   plus GE tax of   4.167% are added into the reservations of each Kulana Visitor.

 

Cash, checks, traveller's checks, cashier's checks and money orders in U.S. dollars accepted.

We also accept Western Union wires from our international guests.

Visitors, please note our "Non-refundable/Non-transferable Reservations Policy":  As we are a small community endeavor in a private home (NOT a hotel, motel, resort, B&B, commune, ashram, nor youth hostel) with a modest amount of cabins and rooms, and no official "front desk," paid staff, or accounting department, we DO NOT CREDIT OR REFUND FOR DATE CHANGES OR CANCELLATIONS.

In order to hold a space for you for specific dates, we require prepaid, non-refundable/non-transferable payment. If you must cancel or alter prearranged dates with us, please consider fees paid for nights you don't use a donation to the continued existence of this special place. No exceptions. We thank you for your support!

All length-of-stay discounted rates are applied at the time of each payment/reservation...which means it is beneficial, in terms of discounted rates, to reserve the most amount of days you know for sure you'll want.

Extending beyond an initial reservation--when possible--is at the rate appropriate for the subsequent number of days one is reserving (i.e. an original 35 night reservation for one person is $18/night plus tax. If that individual decides to stay on another 5 nights & we can accommodate them, the rate for the subsequent 5 nights would be $30/night plus tax.)

 

•  As Management and Residents are pursuing creative goals while also intending to maintain healthy, balanced schedules, we do not accept drop-in Visitors, including returnees. Please call regarding space availability, and to set up a Check-In Time so someone will be here to welcome you and give the grand tour! (Advance reservations preferred, but happy to welcome last minute visitors when we can. Leave a message--we're often home & pick up when we hear a voice--we're hardly ever sitting right by the phone!)  

•  Extending one's stay at Kulana, or reserving a space on the day you would like to arrive, is sometimes--but not always--possible. Advance reservations recommended.

•  Pets negotiable; inquire in advance. (Must get along with those already here!) For those joining us from off island, contact Animal Quarantine for current info regarding that process: 808-837-8092.

•  All Visitors successfully complete one Care Project per week throughout their stay. (Unless they choose the additional cost of opting out of these community responsibilities instead.)

•  Medium-Length & Longer-Stay Visitors begin contributing to the purchase of shared household items at the start of their third week. (Unless they choose the additional cost of opting out these community responsibilities instead.)

•  Visitors can bring their own sheets and towels, or rent a set from us for $5 plus tax for the duration of their stay.

•  All who spend time at our home agree to be 100% responsible for their own safety and the safety of their belongings.

•  As this creative community prefers a harmonious and enjoyable atmosphere, Visitors are welcome to stay as long as all Kulana Guidelines are respected and, in the opinion of Management and Residents, there is a good, compatible "fit."

•  Here's the general order of how things happen when making a reservation to visit Kulana: First you contact us regarding your desired dates and our availability, letting us know how many folks are in your party, whether you want the "with a Care Project per week" or "without Care Project" rate, and whether you'll be bringing your own set of sheets & towel or renting a set from us...then we calculate your reservation's total to send including tax, and once you tell us you've mailed it, we pencil you onto our calendar pending its receipt....Once we receive your (nonrefundable/nontransferable) reservation, you go on our calendar in pen and we set up a mutually agreeable check-in time so your check-in person will be on-site to have the gate open, welcome you, give the grand tour, and check you in...then we get a cell phone number from you and provide driving directions to us from wherever you're arriving! That's it! Looking forward to welcoming you here! :)

•  Just FYI: the way we work indoor space reservations is that each reservation holds "an" available private space--not a specific room or cabin--depending upon what's available upon someone's arrival...each of which has its own special quirks & perks like private deck or phone line or loft bed or solar windows, etc. A person can either keep their initial space for the entire time they are here at Kulana, or if another space opens up that someone prefers, they can generally switch spaces on a seniority-priority basis (unless there is some other Kulana-priority reason that that space is being held). Basically, whoever's here the longest usually gets their first choice of which space they'd like to be in...

DAY-USE

  • Art/writing/meditation space in our smoke-alcohol-drugs-&-drama FREE ZONE is sometimes available by reservation. $100/5-day week, $350/month, or $40/day. Prepaid. Nonrefundable. Checks, cash, or money orders accepted. No credit cards. Checks made payable to: Cristina Salat.
  • Agreements: There is a No-Damage Deposit upon signing of day-use Agreement, amount dependent upon potential usage. This deposit is refundable one month after last use as long as space and surrounding premises left in clean and good order. Please note: all who spend time at this unique home for artists agree to be 100% responsible for their own safety and the safety of their belongings.
  • Day-use of Kulana room or cabin is for daytime use only; no overnights.
  • Business-use intended to welcome clients/"the public" subject to further guidelines.
